TurnaSure Bolting Technology for Anchors & Proprietary Applications
Knotts Berry Farm
Customer's own proprietary applications:
Any bolts and nuts can be tightened and inspected using Direct Tension Indicators to customers own approved drawings and specifications. Special valve applications on nuclear submarines are using specially manufactured TurnaSure DTIs so the exact required clamp loads were applied and the valve proved not to leak, which was the very problem they were selected to solve. Another big user is requiring a special TurnaSure DTI to provide 8,000 lbs on a ½" stud on a walling system. A new stainless steel DTI has been developed for a customer who required properly tension stainless steel bolts in an underwater application. Compression load requirements of these DTIs are simply provided per customer requirements manufactured to the TurnaSure® washer design. These Direct Tension Indicators are tested and certified per ASTM F606 testing and certification protocol.
Construction Other (Anchor bolts):
Because a precise clamping force can be achieved with a Direct Tension Indicator (DTI), TurnaSure DTIs for anchors assure that the correct amount of clamping force is applied down on the anchor. TurnaSure DTIs for anchors can be supplied with a load/gap relationship graph. This gives the gap size to use between the DTI face and the nut face for a desired level of anchor bolt clamping force. DTIs will assure that anchors are held down tighter than the pre calculated forces that attempt to pull them up. A recent bolting technology project is TurnaSure DTIs on the anchors holding down the amusement park ride anchor bolts at Knott’s Berry Farm in California. There is now an ASTM specification for DTIs for anchor bolts.
