Less Force (torque) Required
It has been found that TurnAnut™ fasteners will usually require less torque force to tighten, reducing the time taken in tightening in the field. This is because, in previous research on conventional bolts and nuts, the greatest resistance to tightening (torque) occurs under the nut face. The smaller contact area on top of the TurnaSure® DTI curved protrusions under the nut face, and the relationship with the mechanical qualities of the DTI to the nut; means less tightening friction with lower torque forces, faster tightening time, and quite possibly less ware on tools. Additionally there is no need to control lubricity to obtain the correct tension as compared to “Twist-off-Bolts” or torque tightening methods; where drying out, rusting, or coating on threads can result in failure of these bolts to provide the required tension.
Remember, it is bolt tension, not torque; that determines the strength and integrity of a tightened connection. The DTI provides the assurance of proper tensioning.
